Le médecin Tant-Pis allait voir un malade
Que visitait aussi son confrère Tant-Mieux ;
Ce dernier espérait, quoique son camarade Soutînt que le gisant irait voir ses aïeux.
Tous deux s'étant trouvés différents pour la cure,
Leur malade paya le tribut à Nature,
Après qu'en ses conseils Tant-Pis eut été cru.
Ils triomphaient encor sur cette maladie.
L'un disait : « Il est mort, je l'avais bien prévu. — S'il m'eût cru, disait l'autre, il serait plein de vie. »

Doctor Tant-Pis was going to see a patient
Who was also being visited by his colleague, Doctor Tant-Mieux.
The latter hoped, although his comrade
Insisted that the patient would go to meet his ancestors.
Both of them had different approaches to the treatment,
But their patient paid the tribute to Nature,
After having followed the advice of Doctor Tant-Pis.
They were still triumphant about this illness.
One said, "He is dead, I had predicted it."
"If he had listened to me," said the other, "he would be full of life."

Doktor Tant-Pis ging zu einem Patienten,
Der auch von seinem Kollegen Doktor Tant-Mieux besucht wurde.
Letzterer hoffte, obwohl sein Kamerad behauptete,
Dass der Kranke seinen Vorfahren begegnen würde.
Beide hatten unterschiedliche Ansätze zur Behandlung,
Aber ihr Patient zahlte seinen Tribut an die Natur,
Nachdem er den Ratschlägen von Doktor Tant-Pis gefolgt war.
Sie triumphierten immer noch über diese Krankheit.
Einer sagte: "Er ist gestorben, ich hatte es vorhergesagt."
"Wenn er mir nur geglaubt hätte", sagte der andere, "wäre er voller Leben."
